IPhone 3G the Impressive New Product

The iPhone 3G will be the "first in a wave of impressive new products" Apple wrote analyst Richard Gardner and Citi Yeechang Lee. They also expect an update of Mac and iPod portable lines. Apple's conference is scheduled for June 9-13 in San Francisco.

Shaw Wuwrote , an analyst at American Technology Research, in a research report. 3G iPhone release in early June, the 2.5G model could have a "minor cabinet of change" and a decline in prices in U.S. dollars between 299 and 349 dollars, compared with the current $ 399. Gardner wrote at the time, these forecasts are consistent with a prediction from February Gardner led the 3G iPhones will be announced by semester. The release of 3G iPhone Apple will help meet its target of shipping 10 million iPhones in 2008.
Apple believes it will sell 10 million iPhones this year, officials said during a conference call on Wednesday to discuss the company's second quarter earnings.

When asked about the possible release of a 3G iPhone, Apple chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer declined comment. Apple has new products in the pipeline that the company is excited about, Oppenheimer said.

Apple sold more iPhones than expected during the quarter and inventories iPhone are not sufficient to meet the strong demand, the company said. Apple acknowledged that the iPhone were low global inventories in the U.S. and Europe, which in the past has led to speculation that Apple is reducing supplies current iPhone to prepare the release of 3G iPhone.

The iPhone shortage is compatible with Apple "tendency to reduce inventories before an update," Wu wrote in his note. Predicting transport unit of about 11 million iPhones in 2008, Wu said that the adoption iPhone could be driven by accelerating the iPhone 2.0 software, which was released in March as a beta version and will be delivered to users iPhone in late June.

The iPhone 2.0 software provides enterprise applications iPhones, including push e-mail through the support of Microsoft Exchange mail server. It also includes an SDK (software development kit) for developers to write applications iPhone.

Native Exchange support in the iPhone could boost his approval, said Wu. The iPhone SDK must deliver many third-party applications for iPhone and iPod Touch later this year, Citi analysts wrote. The SDK has already been downloaded 200000 times and used a third of Fortune 500 companies to develop applications for the iPhone, according to Apple.

Samsung 3G Instinct

At April Fooling around, Samsung has come out with the Samsung 3G Instinct.Apple teamed up with AT&T, LG with Verizon and now Samsung has chosen to launch the Instinct with Sprint.

Measuring 4.6" by 2.2" by 0.49", the Instinct is a tad narrower but a bit thicker than the iPhone, and it's also a bit lighter, weighing in at 4.4 ounces.

The Instinct's sleek, animated touch interface looks promising, if still a bit rough-and-ready. The unit I tried was still in the testing stage, so I'll hold off on direct iPhone comparisons until I've seen a final device.

Still, a lot of the UI innovations that I love on the iPhone are right here. Navigating on the touchscreen was a pleasure, and I liked the roulette wheel-like scrolling through long lists of items.

Another ace up the Instinct's sleeve is its access to Sprint's 3G "EV-DO Rev. A" data network, which means speedy Web surfing, full-track downloads from the Sprint Music Store (which got a badly needed makeover for the Instinct), video clips from Sprint TV, and the ability to tether the phone to your laptop for on-the-road Net access.

Rounding out the Instinct's features are microSD memory expansion (up to 8GB), a 2MP camera, stereo Bluetooth, and a media manager for sideloading music and videos.

Good stuff, although I should point out that the Instinct's Web browser (or at least the version I saw) looked pretty clunky compared to the iPhone's, and the Instinct's POP/IMAP/Outlook Web access messaging won't be able to match the iPhone's upcoming support for Microsoft Exchange servers. There's also the iPhone's potential as a software platform to consider, now that the iPhone SDK is out in the wild.

And of course, by the time the Instinct arrives in Sprint stores (sometime in mid-June), we may well have a new 3G iPhone on our hands.

No definitive word on pricing for the Instinct quite yet, although I'm told it could be in the $200-250 range.

LG KU990 Viewty is it the iPhone beater by Steve Morris

The new LG KU990 Viewty is a small compact mobile handset packed full of features that make this a phone to consider when thinking of the likes of the new apple iPhone . I would go as far of saying that the iPhone had more hype then a batman movie but I feel it fails to deliver whereas the Viewty comes up with the goods you need in bucket loads. There is only one short fall and that is that it does not have built in Wi-Fi but other then that it should be a capable alternative to apples new phone.

Many good camera phones are disappointing aesthetically but the LG is far from disappointing on its looks and it comes with a very good 5-mega pixel camera

This handset in my opinion is one of the best if not the best phone from the LG stable; its design is of simple stylish functionality. It feels and looks stylish, light in the hand, but not cheap like we have seen in the past from LG.

The KU990 has a large touch screen with three function keys, call, end, and cancel positioned at the bottom. The screen looks great but is prone to fingerprints and scratches so I would suggest a clear sticky back plastic to protect it. Compared to most of the other touch screens available, the Viewty's screen is very quick to respond and has a setting to make it vibrate on contact, which is a great feedback device and makes you want to use it even more.

The Viewty comes with a great proprietary Web browser with very similar functionality to the IPhone's with the ability to view full sized web pages scaled down and to zoom in on areas of interest to view properly. It comes with HSDPA connectivity which in theory gives you download speeds of 1.8 bps, but alas as mentioned earlier no Wi-Fi but if you are on a good data plan this should not be a problem, but if you pay my the meg be careful those data charges go up like a rocket.

The camera can shoot video at 120 frames a second, which is great for capturing those fast moving moments and playing them back slowly. The camera in photo mode can take stunning photographs with its 5-megarpixels you can adjust the size and quality of the shots including the white balance and ISO speed.

The digital stabilisation cuts down the blur on photographs but is not at the same level as optical stabilisation. KU990 has a xenon flash, although not as bright as a standalone camera flash, it is better than an LED photo light. The Viewty also includes a basic photo editing application this will allow you to do some basic adjustment right on the phone.

With Divx becoming the norm for movie compression the Viewty supports playback of this format allowing you to store movies on a SD memory card. Included is a music player that supports MP3, AAC, WMA, WMV and AMR formats

All in all the LG is a good handset with great functionality is it an IPhone beater if you take away the hype and look at function then I would say that there's not a lot in it. If you’re the sort of person that has to have the latest fashion gear then your going to opt for the iPhone but if you are pragmatic in your approach to choosing a phone then you could do worse then look at the Viewty . There are some other options on the market that are worth a look, such as the Nokia N95 8GB
